Longevity Palace
Longevity Palace was painted by Mr.Zhang in the late 1940’s in Shanghai. It coincides with the wedding of Mr.Zhang and his fourth wife XuWen. Therefore, this painting was generally regarded as a wedding gift for his newly wed bride.
The inspiration of this painting was originated from a classic ancient Chinese love story between Tang Dysnasty Emperor, Tang Xuan Zhong and his concubine, Yang Yu Huan. The painting depicted all the exotic plants and vegetation, unique grand architecture, included the patio build behind the vegetation in the palace. It brings to life the scene when the Emperor was playing in the garden with his favorite concubine. The painting was so surreal that you could have mistaken it was a real life movie appearing in front of you.
This master piece was auctioned off in the fall of 2009 for an amount of 112 million yuan.
It took two year to complete the embroiery work of this painting.
